Cadillac Ranch - Amarillo, Texas

April 4, 2019 (Date I was here) The first trip on my bucket list is Amarillo, Texas. I've been here once many years ago but I was driving through to see Palo Duro Canyon and didn't get to stop and see anything the city had to offer. I decided to remedy that and plan a 3 day mini trip here. Also, my dad lived here for about a year when he was a child and has always said he wanted to go back one day so I made that possible for him. The first attraction in Amarillo on the list is Cadillac Ranch. This is a public art piece featuring 10 half buried Cadillacs from the years 1949-1963. This art piece was created in 1974 but was moved to its current location in 1997. Graffiti is encouraged here with a local gift shop even selling spray paint. This attraction helped bring in visitors to the growing city of Amarillo including my dad and I. After driving down a frontage road next to interstate 40 we saw the cars in the distance.
